I made a video all about the fear of rats, in which I also played four different rat-themed horror games. This game was included amongst those four, although it is hardly "horror". The story of this game is pretty lackluster, and I think it'd have been better stretched over a longer game, rather than compressed and crammed into this short experience, which felt weird and rushed. Although, the strange pixel graphics style is oddly appealing, and thus the game looks pretty good. The actual gameplay, though, isn't much. You spend most of the game only looking left to right in a boat. Only after the game is more than half way finished do you even walk around. This makes it even less than a walking simulator... more of a visual novel / storytelling game. But that's rough, because the story itself is, well, shallow.
Yet, it's also free. And despite the negative things I've said, I think it's worth a try. What do you have to lose? 15 minutes of your precious time that you'd otherwise waste anyways? Give it a chance, but keep expectations reasonable.
The story was horrible, and considerably monotonous. I see unlimited potential in this, if the creators improve and add their own lore, to make it rather a cinematic movie experience, a game, an adventure game perhaps. The soundtrack was impeccable, music was definitely on-point. It isn't a classic type of game, I felt this was rather just an interactive video. It isn't bad and isn't good. It can use some improvement.
Thanks
Hello, thanks for the feedback. Glad you liked the music! It's an arrangement of a composition called "Lua Branca" (stands for "white moon"), by brazilian composer Chiquinha Gonzaga. The story at its core is a take on a classic tale so, I didn't want to change it too much (adding rats to it already made a bunch of people confused), but I definitely also see room for improvement.
At the moment I'm working on a new project, with what I consider a more engaging story, more traditional gameplay and an OST. Hope to hear your thoughts of it on the future. Thanks!
Thanks my man; sorry for the late reply, and the deathly critical comment, but yeah, you did a good job nevertheless; my complaint was just that it felt like a movie, not a game. Good luck with the new project, I hope to give better feedback on it :)
Very nice experience Thank you.
This was definitely different. Keep up the great work.
Rat King.
